KOCHI: The new version of Empuraan re-edited after embroiled in controversies, will hit the theatres today (Tuesday). The re-censoring of the film was completed on Sunday. The reason for the delay in the film's release was the delay in completing the editing and mastering. The mastering work was done at Annapurna Studios, owned by actor Nagarjuna in Hyderabad. It is reported that the new version will hit the theatres today. The old version will be screened in morning shows.

A three-minute cut version of the film Empuraan is hitting the theatres today. The attempt was made to get it by last evening. It was late to get the master print after completing all the technical work. The producers had presented the re-edited print before the censor board, which met on Sunday. Dubbing had to be done to ensure continuity. The name of the villain Baba Bajrangi has been changed. This name is mentioned 18 times. Mohanlal mentions it twice. All this had to be dubbed again. The scenes of women being raped have also been removed from the film. The NIA logo will not be shown. The scene where the villain calls the Union home minister has also been removed.

The producers themselves approached the censor board demanding changes in the film after Sangh Parivar organizations came forward against the film. Following this, the re-censoring work was completed on Sunday, which was a holiday.
