KOCHI: Exemplary punishment should be awarded for the sexual abuse complaints raised in the Malayalam film industry. People loyal to the betterment of the film sector should be at the helm of the leadership. Aishwarya Lakshmi also told a media that women should be in decision-making positions.

Her words
‘It should be a workplace where women are treated with respect. I haven’t felt the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is one to be part of it. This is a step towards a big change. It should have happened a long time ago. The WCC and the government are taking the initiative and implementing it. Why it was not taken earlier.

Legal action should be taken against the casting couch. It was during the shooting of my third film that the actress was attacked and the subsequent events happened. Have been observing since then. Since that woman stood up and spoke up, such a big change has taken place. It inspired me.

I don't think AMMA would intervene if I get into trouble if had taken membership in the association. Whoever has the commitment should lead the association.

Meantime, it will take at least two months for a new governing body to be elected. Till then the ad hoc committee will continue. The members of the association informed that they will continue as usual, including the monthly contributions given to weak artists. There may also be a change in the Onam celebration program that the stars were to hold together in Kochi next month.
