
CHANDIGARH: There was a blast near the railway track in Patiala, Punjab. The blast took place last night. Police said that an unidentified body was found near the Shambhu-Ambala railway track where the incident took place. However, it is not clear whether it is related to the blast.
Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma said the railway track was also damaged in the blast. The blast took place near the rail track for freight train traffic at around 10 pm last night. Senior police officials including the DGP and Patiala SSP reached the spot as soon as the information was received. The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) have also reached the spot.
The Patiala SSP said the blast was of low intensity. He added that an unidentified body with body parts severed has been recovered. He said that an investigation is underway to find out whether the dead was killed in the blast. Forensic experts have reached the spot and started examination.
