NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is likely to file a case against Veena Vijayan, daughter of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in the monthly payoff case. Reports say ED has asked Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) for documents related to the case. The ED has observed that this will fall under the ambit of the Prevention of Black Money Act. The ED will register a case. Action will be taken after receiving the documents. The news was reported by a leading national daily from Delhi, quoting ED officials.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court will consider the plea filed by CMRL today, demanding to stop SFIO's investigation. The hearing on the plea will be heard at 2:30 pm. The court had sent notices to SFIO and the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs on the plea. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal will appear today for CMRL. CMRL filed the plea in the high court when the trial in the case was about to begin. The plea demanded that the trial should not begin without the permission of the high court and that the Centre be directed to clarify whether the SFIO has submitted its final investigation report.

The SFIO filed a chargesheet against Veena Vijayan in the monthly payoff case last Thursday. It was found that Veena received money without providing any service. It was found that Veena's Exalogic company received Rs 2.70 crore. Veena has been charged with offences that carry a prison sentence of up to ten years.
