ANGOLA: Continued heavy rain and wind in Shirur are posing a challenge to rescue operations. The water level of Gangavali river is rising. The rescue operation is in crisis due to the heavy current . There is a situation where divers cannot go down in the river. Meanwhile, with the presence of the missing truck confirmed, the rescue operation is nearing its final stage. However, due to bad weather, the Navy's boats, which were conducting inspections, were brought closer to the shore.
The presence of Arjun's truck has been confirmed at a depth of 15 feet, 20 meters from the shore. The presence of the truck was identified after a search with the latest big boom excavator. Taking the lorry out of the river is very difficult. Navy personnel moved to the spot in three boats to check the situation but could not proceed due to heavy currents.
Local residents say that Gangavali is a river with a depth of 30 feet and a place with undercurrents. Even for expertly trained divers, it is impractical to descend at such a deep current. Earlier Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and the police confirmed that Arjun's truck was found under the river. It will soon be excavated with a boom excavator.
Karwar SP also informed that the steps to take the truck out of the river will be completed soon. Ropes, believed to have been used to tie logs to Arjun's lorry, were found earlier. The presence of metal was also found near it. The rope was found in the debris. The rope was found untied and loose. There were about 300 pieces of logs in the lorry. No logs have been found yet.
The rescue operation is progressing very cautiously. There is a possibility of soil falling again from above when soil is taken from below. The authorities had earlier warned that there is a possibility of more landslides if powerful machines are used. Frequent heavy rains also increase the chances of landslides.
