
CHENNAI: Outgoing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin said that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which had functioned effectively as the ruling party, will now work as a strong and effective opposition.
Stalin shared an emotional note after the unexpected setback faced by the party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He said that he accepts the people's verdict and congratulated the winners.
In a post shared on X, he said that he has seen both major victories and defeats in his political career, and that ideals and policies are more important than wins and losses. He added that his government had worked to uplift Tamil Nadu at every level.
Stalin also said that he governed not only for those who voted for him, but also for those who chose not to vote. He congratulated the winning side.
Stalin lost from the Kolathur constituency by a margin of 9000 votes.
