NEW DELHI: Pakistan's cruel mind, wishing for the massacre of 220 Indians at 36,000 feet. An IndiGo flight that was hit by a tornado and hailstorm was denied an emergency landing in Lahore. The pilot's bravery helped the plane to land safely in Srinagar, with the front part of the plane damaged. Pakistan's cunning plan to vent its hatred for India on its passengers is drawing widespread criticism.

The incident took place on Wednesday. IndiGo flight 6E2142 from Delhi to Srinagar was hit by a hailstorm. The weather conditions turned adverse while it was flying over Amritsar in Punjab. The pilot then contacted the air traffic controller at the nearby Lahore airport and sought permission for an emergency landing. However, Pakistan took a stand that permission could not be granted as Indian aircraft were banned. The cabin crew, who did not lose their courage, flew the aircraft to Srinagar and landed safely. No one was injured. After the Pahalgam terror attack, the airspace of both countries has been closed. Indian aircraft are currently flying avoiding Pakistan's airspace.

Miraculous escape

The plane experienced heavy turbulence due to the tornado. The pilot was about to lose control of the aircraft. At one point, the plane was descending at a rate of 8500 feet per minute. It should normally be 1500-3000 feet. The autopilot system failed. The front of the plane was severely damaged. Video footage of passengers screaming and praying emerged.

Death in front of eyes

Trinamool leaders Derek O'Brien, Nadimul Haque, Sagarika Ghose, Manas Bhunia and Mamata Thakur, who were on the flight, said that it was a near-death experience. A passenger on the flight wrote in the X that they had a narrow escape and expressed his special gratitude to the captain and cabin crew. The DGCA said that an investigation into the incident is underway.
