KANPUR: A man killed his twin daughters by slitting their throats. The shocking incident that shook the country happened in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, early Sunday morning. The police arrested the accused Shashi Ranjan Mishra from the spot. The accused himself informed the police about the murder. The bodies of the children had deep wounds on their necks. The accused committed the murder in such a way that the children's cries could not be heard from the room. The statement given to the police says that the accused's wife was in another room when the crime was committed.
Meantime, the mother of the murdered children has levelled serious allegations against her husband. They were married in 2014 after falling in love. However, after marriage, her husband became an alcoholic and would constantly harass and torture her without giving her food. He had installed CCTV cameras inside the house and in the bedroom to monitor her. He used to beat her brutally when she went to her own house. She said that he had asked her to take her son and not leave the girls.
‘Everyone had dinner together last night. Shashi then took the girls to his bedroom. I was watching the CCTV footage in the room. He talked on the phone for a long time. At around 2:30 am, he took one of his daughters to the toilet and came back. After that, he turned off the lights in the room. Since there was no sound, I thought everyone was asleep,' said Shashi Ranjan's wife.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem. The police are questioning the suspect to clarify why he killed his children in this way.
