NEW DELHI: In a move aimed at improving travel convenience on national highways, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has introduced a new FASTag-based annual pass priced at Rs 3,000. The announcement was made via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Set to come into effect from August 15, the pass will be available exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles. According to the minister, the pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips—whichever limit is reached first.
For user accessibility, links for activation and renewal of the pass will soon be made available on the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application, as well as the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
Gadkari noted that the initiative aims to streamline and reduce the cost of highway travel, particularly addressing long-standing public concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60-kilometre radius. The single-payment model is expected to cut down waiting times, reduce congestion, and limit toll-related disputes, ultimately offering a smoother, faster travel experience for millions of commuters nationwide.
