KANNUR: The police investigation into the murder of K.K. Radhakrishnan — an auto-rickshaw driver and RSS worker from Kaithapram, Mathamangalam — extended to his wife, Mini Nambiar, based on certain suspicions. The other day, the police arrested Mini Nambiar, the third accused in the case, on charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
According to the case, Mini allegedly conspired with her lover and the prime accused, Santhosh, to kill her husband Radhakrishnan.
Radhakrishnan was shot dead around 7 p.m. on March 20 at a house under construction in Kaithapram. Police had earlier found that Santhosh murdered Radhakrishnan out of resentment, as the latter opposed his relationship with Mini. On the day of the murder, Mini had gone to her mother’s house nearby. However, she did not return to the house where the shooting occurred, despite hearing the gunshots — which intensified police suspicions.
Santhosh, the murderer, is unmarried. He was arrested by the police shortly after the crime while under the influence of alcohol. During interrogation, he revealed the motive behind the murder.
Mini Nambiar and Santhosh had been close for a long time. They were former classmates who reconnected at an alumni gathering. Later, Santhosh started helping with the construction of Radhakrishnan's house. When Santhosh began interfering too much in matters involving Mini, Radhakrishnan objected. This led to threats from Santhosh. Following a complaint from Radhakrishnan, both were summoned to the Pariyaram police station for questioning. Police closely examined WhatsApp messages and call records between the two. After analysing the messages exchanged between Mini and Santhosh on March 20 — the day of the murder — investigators concluded that Mini was indeed involved in the conspiracy.
