92-year-old Devi's home vote turns fake vote: CPM leader caught; five officials suspended

KANNUR: False vote complaint during home voting in Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency. It is alleged that CPM's former branch secretary Kapottukavu Ganesan cast the vote of 92-year-old Devi of Edakkadan House, Kalliasseri, Parakkadavu while she was trying to cast her vote. After the CCTV footage confirming the fake vote came out, not only the branch secretary but also the officials who came to take the vote of the old lady were caught.

Polling Officer VV Pournami, Polling Assistant TK Prajin, Micro Observer AA Sheela, Videographer Reju Amaljith and Special Police Officer Lajeesh were suspended by Kannur District Collector Arun K Vijayan, who is also the District Election Officer, for not preventing outside interference in the vote from home process meant for senior citizens. Kannapuram police registered a case against six people including Ganesan.
