KOCHI: Ernakulam South police have reached a critical juncture in their investigation into the toddler death in Panampilly Nagar. All eyes are now fixed on Vanshika apartment in Panampilly Nagar. It is here the police believe that the toddler was thrown out. Ernakulam native Businessman, his wife and daughter are now staying in this apartment.
During the inspection conducted by the police, blood stains were found in the toilet of the flat. Police strongly believe that the childbirth took place in the toilet of this apartment. More police have been deployed in the flat while the senior officials are now interrogating the three family members. Two of the three family members will be soon shifted to police custody.
As per details, the daughter of the businessman is in her early 20s and is now studying in Bengaluru. She is unmarried. The police also found a scar on the toddler’s neck which is suspected to be a strangling attempt with a cloth.
The woman who is suspected to have given birth will soon be shifted to hospital. The investigation is moving strong with the Amazon parcel wrapper used to cover the newborn. The family first bought the apartment 15 years ago, but only seldom used to visit the place.
On Friday morning, a newborn was allegedly thrown out from an apartment in Kochi’s Vidyanagar in Panampilly Nagar on Friday. It was the corporation's cleaning workers who spotted the dead body of the newborn on the streets.
The police indicate that the baby was thrown down after being placed inside a courier box, from a nearby flat complex. The CCTV footage of this has been released. As part of the investigation, the police have collected CCTV footage of the nearby area. The footage shows a package being thrown down from the flat.
In the CCTV visuals, it was exactly at 7:58 am on Friday that the toddler was first seen landing on the road. Meanwhile, after 8 am, people started noticing a box on the roadside and informed the sanitation workers. In the subsequent enquiry, the workers found the toddler bathed in a pool of blood.
