BENGALURU: The family of Kozhikode native Arjun-who went missing in the landslide in Shirur-has come out stating that the audio message claiming that Arjun's body was recovered from the Gangavali River is fake. The fake audio message circulated through social media platforms had claimed that the ring found in one of the bodies recovered from the river was recognized as Arjun's ring.

17 days have passed since Arjun, a truck driver from Kozhikode, went missing in the landslide in Shirur in Karnataka. Earlier, Karwar MLA Satish Krishna Sail had said that the search operation to find Arjun will not be called off. Speaking to the media, he said that efforts are being made to continue the search by bringing a dredger from Thrissur to remove the mud and soil.

Gangavali River, which is very deep, is still experiencing strong currents. A team consisting of assistant directors of the Agriculture Department gave a report to the Thrissur Collector that the dredger could not be lowered into the river.
The report pointed out that it will be difficult to land the dredger in the river if the current in the river is more than four knots.
