Close shave for students coming face to face with wild elephant in Peerumedu

IDUKKI: There was a close shave for school students after having coming face to face with a wild elephant in Peerumedu. The elephant was seen coming towards the students of Mariagiri School. The visuals of the incident have gone viral on social media. The incident happened last evening at around 4:30 pm. A major accident was averted as the students ran away. When the locals and students raised a commotion, the elephant ran towards the Eucalyptus grove. Mariagiri School is situated between Peerumedu and Kuttikkanam.

The elephant came before the students when they were waiting for the bus last evening. Seeing the elephant crossing the road, the children rushed to the school premises. The locals said the presence of wild elephants in the area are giving them sleepless nights.
