Disabled woman falls off scooter after attacked by stray dog, SC to consider plea on issue

THRISSUR: A woman sustained injuries after falling from scooter while resisting stray dog attack. Shiny, a resident of Thippalisseri Mezhathur, sustained head injuries and is under treatment at a private hospital in Thrissur.

The dog attacked physically disabled Shiny and her husband, who were on a scooter. She fell from the scooter while resisting the dog that ran after their vehicle with a bag.

Meantime, the Supreme Court will consider today the plea citing the stray dog menace in Kerala. The plea filed by Sabu Stephen, a Malayali will be considered today requesting the government to give directions to examine the effectiveness and storage of the rabies vaccine. The plea was originally scheduled to be heard on September 26. However, after lawyer V K Biju brought this matter to the attention of the Supreme Court, the chief justice informed that the matter could be considered earlier. A bench comprising Justices Sanjeev Khanna and J K Maheshwari are considering the plea.
