
KOZHIKODE: Perinthalmanna Drishya murder case accused Vineesh, who escaped from the Kuthiravattom mental health center, was arrested on Saturday. After a search that lasted months, the Special Investigation Team arrested Vineesh from Mumbai. The police had earlier issued a lookout notice for him. The accused will be brought back to Kerala the next day.
Vineesh escaped by breaking through the wall of the toilet in the mental health centre on December 29. Using the steel glass given to him to drink tea. Vinessh worked for ten days to take the tiles off the wall. He then carved out a hole in the wall and escaped. After escaping, Vineesh reached Mumbai and did odd jobs and lived in various places. In the meantime, Vineesh tried to connect with a family member, but it was intercepted by the police. The accused was arrested during the subsequent investigation.
Vineesh stabbed Drishya (21), a native of Perinthalmanna, to death in 2021 for rejecting his love proposal. After setting fire to Drishya's father's business, the accused broke into the house and stabbed the woman. Vineesh, who was remanded, was kept in the Kannur Central Jail. In the meantime, he was admitted to the Kuthiravattom Mental Health Centre after he showed mental imbalance. In 2022, the accused attempted to escape from Kuthiravattom but was later caught by the police.
