KANNUR: Health Minister Veena George, who suffered a neck injury during the protest by KSU workers at the railway station, has been discharged from Pariyaram Medical College. The minister left the hospital Friday morning at 4 am. The decision was taken to shift her to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. The decision was taken at the online medical board meeting convened last night.
The minister and her team left for Thiruvananthapuram by road. Her health condition improved last night. The medical board had also assessed that her blood pressure was returning to normal. It was in this context that a decision was taken to shift her to Thiruvananthapuram. The medical bulletin released by the hospital last evening also stated that the minister's health condition was improving.
The medical board informed that there was no need for emergency surgery. The severe pain was caused by the discs between the vertebrae in her neck pressing on the nerve at two places. The pain was spreading to the right arm and the back of the head.
Meantime, the investigation team will seek permission to record her statement. Permission was denied in the past few days considering the minister's health condition. The investigation team has applied to the railway police seeking camera footage of the KSU protest site.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered against five KSU leaders in the attack on the minister. The FIR says the protestors rushed towards the minister shouting ‘kill her’. The minister’s gunman M S Abhilash gave a statement that they attacked her with the weapon which they hand in their hands.
