Kasaragod natives set out to Sabarimala from Badrinath in 8,000 km journey on foot

KASARAGOD: Embarking on a 8,000 km walk, two people from Kasaragod has set out from Badrinath for darshan in Sabarimala.

K Sanath Kumar Naik and Sampath Kumar Shetty, natives of Kasaragod's Kudlu, will arrive at Sabarimala after traveling for seven months.

Sanath, a freelance photographer, and Sampath, a cushion worker, used to walk from Kasaragod to Sabarimala every year. This time they decided to make the journey big. The duo reached Badrinath on June 26 by train.

The filled the 'Irumudi' bag on July 2 and left the Badrinath temple the next day. After visiting Ayodhya, they reached Lucknow on Wednesday. Now the target is Dwarka in Gujarat. After that, they'll also visit the Jagannath Temple in Puri. They will enter Kerala after visiting Rameshwaram.

The plan of the Kasaragod natives is to travel at least 25 km per day with a maximum of up to 50 km. At night, they'll rest at the temples on the way.

They began their 'vrat' the last Vishu at the Ayyappa temple in Kudlu by wearing the 'maala'.
