THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The locals blocked the officials who came to lay the stones for SilverLine at Karichara in Kazhakkoottam. The congress activists too joined the locals in the protest.

In the meanwhile, a clash broke out between the police and the protestors. There are reports that some sustained injuries in the attack by the police. More protestors reached the place after knowing about the clash.

The police were seen kicking the protestors in the melee. One of them was seen lying in the ground and protesting. He said the police beat them without any provocation. Following the protest, the stone laying was suspended. The survey officials left the place.

The laying of stones for SilverLine resumed after a gap. It has to be noticed that the laying of stones suspended for a month resumed after the end of the CPM party congress.
