VELLARADA: A big brutality unfurled in the death of a middle-aged man in Vellarada on Wednesday. It was a speeding bike that hit the man on the road. However, instead of rushing him to the hospital, the youngsters took him to a nearby house, placed him on the door and fled the spot. The police said that the man died after not getting immediate medical care.
Suresh (56), who lived alone in Vellarada Choondikal was found dead inside the house when neighbours opened the door after sensing a foul smell. The body was rotting in the inner room. For two days, nobody cared to search for Suresh since it was common for him to go on long journeys. What turned vital was the suspicion raised by Vellarada police as it was uncommon for a man living alone to die in such a brutal way.
CCTV footage revealed that Suresh left the house around 11 pm on Saturday and crossed the road to the other side. Then it can be seen that Suresh was hit by a speeding bike. In the visuals, it can also be seen that his head hit the road in the clash.
After the accident, the youngsters took him and placed him in a nearby house. Since it was night, the faces of the youngsters were not clear. The post-mortem report stated that the cause of death was a head injury. More clarity will come only after receiving a detailed report. Suresh's body was received by his relatives and cremated at Shantikavadam in Thycaud.
Suresh, a native of Thiruvananthapuram Mannanthala Mukkolackal, was living with his relative in Vellarada for years after separating from his wife and children. After the relative’s death, Suresh started living alone in the house. Friends admitted to seeing Suresh just two days back. He was a carpenter by profession.
Meanwhile, police guessed that it would be someone familiar with the place and house, who took Suresh after the accident. Investigation will soon head towards Suresh’s friends and natives of the area.
