THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman employee and a man were burnt to death in a massive fire at the agency office of New India Assurance Company operating at Pappanamcode junction. The body of the man has not been identified yet. Traces of kerosene-like liquid were found in the office. Police are also investigating the possibility of murder while mystery still looms over the second unidentified body.

One dead body was identified to be of Vaishna (34), an employee of the institution, who lived at a rented house in Pappanamcode Dikubali road. Police have received footage from a nearby road surveillance camera of a man entering the office shortly before the incident. Serious investigations are ongoing to identify the man.

It is learned that Vaishna's estranged husband Binu, a native of Mottamoodu, and an auto driver, came to the office just hours before the incident. A verbal feud took place between the two. After Binu left, Vaishna called her brother and informed him about the incident. Her brother headed straight to the office but by the time, the fire broke out. The police tried to contact Binu but his phone remained switched off.

Initially, it was thought that the cause of the fire might be an AC burst or short circuit, but that was not the case. Forensic and fingerprint experts arrived and conducted the inspection. Vaishna has been working in the company for the past seven years. Vaishna is the daughter of Venugopalan Nair and Sudhakala couple. She leaves behind her children Devadevan and Varsha. Brother: Vishnu.

Furniture, files and computers in the office were completely burnt. The glass door in the front exploded and turned into shreds. The locals rushed in and tried to extinguish the fire by pouring water on it. The fire force later joined and doused the fire completely.

1. A knife was found in the office room and this keeps alive the murder angle to the case.

2. Kerosene spilling spotted adds to the mystery.

3. Initially, police concluded the second person who died to be someone who came to pay insurance, but they retracted the statement later.

4. It was usual for Vaishna's husband to visit the office and cause problems.
