KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sharply criticised V. Kunhikrishnan, who recently left the CPM to contest with UDF support following the Dhanraj Martyrs Fund controversy in Payyannur. Speaking at an election rally for Left candidate T.I. Madhusoodanan, the Chief Minister asserted that no matter who attempts to create a rift in the Left stronghold of Payyannur, their efforts will prove futile. While he avoided mentioning Kunhikrishnan by name, his remarks were a clear rebuttal to the defection.
The Chief Minister stated that no one can undermine the sanctity of Payyannur, describing it as a land defined by disciplined leaders and the legacy of martyrs. He pointed out that the region has a long-standing tradition of leadership characterised by extreme financial integrity, where even a single coin is accurately accounted for. He further emphasised that the people of Payyannur stand as firm as a rock with the party, even in the face of major crises.
Concluding his address, Pinarayi Vijayan reminded the audience that the party grew in this region under the guidance of great leaders and remains protected by strong popular resistance. He urged everyone to stand together to preserve the political and moral integrity of the land.
