"Onasadya is wonderful", Sherpas rhapsodized

KUMARAKAM: The American delegates were amazed as the curries lined up on the banana lead. Every bite of it was delicious. Ghee, dal, papad, and sambar were followed by Pulisheri. Before finishing the meal, the Sherpas said in unison, 'Ona Sadya is wonderful!'

The heated discussions at the G-20 Sherpa meeting came to an end and yesterday was entirely scheduled for the Onam celebrations. The Chinese enjoyed the 'Ada Pradhaman' and banana combo while the people from Netherlands and Brazil asked for a second serving of Sambar and Pulisseri.

The Sherpas who arrived at the Coconut Lagoon Resort were welcomed with jasmine flowers. Onakali, Thiruvathirakali, Pulikali, kummatikali and kalaripayat filled the stage as arts of Kerala. Meanwhile, flowers came in as well. Sherpas also came to put pookalam. Breaking the pot and Tug of war was filmed on a mobile phone. Some made video calls to their countries and showed everything live. KAS officials were there to introduce them to everything. At last, it was the Onasadya.

Asked for the recipe

Many did not forget to ask for the recipe of Aviyal and Sweet pachadi in the rare moment when the boundary of language and country did not matter. Europeans who preferred less spicy dishes requested a second serving. Finally, after drinking a glass of buttermilk, they raised their right hand and smiled to show that they liked everything. After the Sherpa meeting, the Development Committee meeting will be held from the 6th to the 9th at the same venue.
