GURUVAYUR: As part of the Guruvayur 'Ekadashi Vilakku' festival, a 'Swarnakolam' (a golden replica of the deity) will be used during procession from today (Ashtami Vilakku Day). The Swarnakolam will be used for the fourth round of the night 'Vilakku' procession. The Swarnakolam will be part of the procession only on the last four days of the Ekadashi Vilakku, on the last five days of the main festival, and on Ashtamirohini.

The kolam, made of 10 kg gold, has Unnikrishnan (Lord Sree Krishna) reading a murli in the middle, Veerashrankhala around, emerald green and 191 gold flowers on the open side. On the top is an umbrella with a precious emerald stone and five layers of gold.

Swarnakolam procession adds even more glory to the main celebrations of the temple.
