KOCHI: Record turnover for Kerala Chicken started under the leadership of Kudumbashree under the branding of Kerala's own chicken. 150.20 crores was earned in five years.
Average daily sales are 24,000 kg. Kudumbashree member farmers and retailers have earned an income of Rs 6 crore in Covid. Poultry farmers got an income of Rs 14.27 crore and shopkeepers got an income of Rs 17.41 crore. 400 families with stable incomes. The average monthly income for shops is Rs 87,000. Poultry farmers will also get Rs 50,000 every two months through farm integration.

Big goals
The Kerala Chicken project was started in 2017. Sales started in 2019. The objectives are to control the price of chicken meat, provide quality meat, ensure regular income for Kudumbashree member chicken farmers and produce 50 percent of the broiler market within the state.
Kudumbashree, animal husbandry department and Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation (KEPCO) are working in collaboration for the project. Kudumbashree Broiler Farmers Producer Company is there to coordinate from production to marketing.
