Instagram friend rejects marriage proposal; youth reaches girl's house with petrol and lighter

KOZHIKODE: A man who tried to immolate his Instagram friend has been caught. Paleri native Arunjith has been arrested by Thamarassery police. The two were friends for over six years through the social media app. However, there happened a dissonance in their relationship after the girl rejected Arun’s request for marriage. Incensed over the happenings, Arun took a bottle of petrol and traveled to the girl's home. Her mother shocked by his intrusion into the house quickly shut the door and called for help from the nearby localities. The neighbors rushed to the spot and caught Arun. Later he was handed to the police.

One liter of petrol and a lighter has been found from Arun. The guilty has been remanded by the Thamarassery court.
