Youngster hacks family for rejecting marriage proposal, seriously injures two kin

ALAPPUZHA: In an alarming incident, a youngster on Friday barged into a woman’s house and hacked five members of her family. The incident took place in Chennithala on Friday night. Two of the injured are now in critical condition while the assailant Ranjith Rajendran was arrested by Mannar police.

Rashuddin, his wife Nirmala, son Sujith, daughter Sajina and Rashuddin's sister's husband Binu were attacked by the culprit. The accused had earlier proposed to the family about marrying Sajina, but the woman later withdrew from the decision which incensed the culprit.

Sajina was standing in front of the house at 10 pm when Ranjtih ambushed her from the dark and hacked her with a machete. Hearing the scream, other family members too came to Sajina’s help but were attacked brutally by Ranjith. Rashuddin and his daughter Sajina were seriously injured and shifted to Vandanam Medical College. Sajina, who was working abroad returned to Kerala only on Friday.
