RAJAKKAD: The rogue elephant Arikomban is unleashing attacks on houses on a daily basis. This time it destroyed a house in Chinnakanal 301 Colony. The elephant pulled down the kitchen of Ammini’s house early Friday morning. Only Ammini, a bedridden patient and her daughter Sara were at home at the time of the incident.
The wall of the kitchen has been completely destroyed and damaged the household appliances. The wall of the room where the two were sleeping developed cracks and it can fall at any time. When the elephant damaged the kitchen, without making any noise Sara switched on the gas and informed her neighbours via phone.
The elephant left the place as he did not get any food. From here it swam across the Anayirangal reservoir and reached the other side. Then destroyed the door of the house of Mohanan. He and his family were at home at that time but it left without causing any more damages.
The forest officials reached the spot and started preparations for the operation to capture the elephants-- Arikomban, Chakkakomban and Murivalan. They will first take steps to capture Arikomban, the most aggressive one. As part of it, talks were held by a team led by DFO and range officer.
While the officers were plotting on one side, Arikomban is unleashing violence on the other side. The arrival of the special mission team from Wayanad is still uncertain. They had earlier informed to reach by March 10.
