LUCKNOW: The Allahabad high court in a startling statement asked the Central government to take the final call in banning cow slaughter in the country. The court then urged the union ministry to end the abominable act of cow slaughter in the country.
The court came with the statement while considering the plea of Mohammed Abdul Khalid who was accused of trafficking cows for slaughtering. The Bench under Justice Shamim Ahmed rejected the petition but charged Khalid with illegal trafficking under section 3/5/8 of the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1955.
India is a secular and diverse nation. All religions should be respected. The cows are considered holy and are revered not only by Hindus but mostly by people from all religions. So, it is the need of the officials to protect an animal considered revered by the people of India. With an end-line statement, the court gave an appalling take and said those who slaughter cows will rot in hell.
The court then put good hope that the center will take an appropriate decision to declare cow as a protected national animal.
