KYIV: Russia has launched an array of attacks using high-tech missiles on populated areas including Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine. As per reports, six people were killed in air strikes in areas including Kyiv on Thursday. Ukraine claims the blackout in the attack affected the operation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which Russia denied.

In recent months, Russia has focused its attacks on the border areas of Ukraine. At the time, Russian attacks using kamikaze drones to destroy Ukraine's infrastructure, including electricity, were unreported. To disrupt this, seven hours of air raid warning sirens were sounded in the cities of Ukraine today.

According to Ukrainian military sources, six Kinzhal hypersonic missiles were used by Russia for the attack.

“The attack is really large-scale and for the first time using such different types of missiles. We see that this time as many as six Kinzhal were used. This is an attack like I don’t remember seeing before,” Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force Command of Ukraine, said.

“So far, we have no capabilities to counter these weapons,” he added.

Ukraine blames the missile and artillery attack for killing local residents in western Lviv, Dnipro and Kyiv, as well as knocking out power lines to the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. Russia claims to have fuel reserves for the smooth operation of the nuclear power plant currently under its control. At the same time, Ukraine is demanding that Russia's attacks on civilians be considered war crimes.
