Unified color code for KSRTC depots

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Antony Raju said that KSRTC depots will be given common colour. Passenger waiting areas will be equipped with uniform chairs, new fans, LED lights, free drinking water, and a TV sound system. Rs 10 lakh will be allocated to each depot from the plan fund and the work will be completed within six months. He said in the inaugural function of the upgraded toilets at the depots.

The renovation was announced following complaints of unhygienic toilets at KSRTC stations. In all the depots, the construction work was entrusted to the committee, which was chaired by unit officers and a representative of a recognized trade union and other officers as members. Minister was inaugurating online the 72 toilets that were constructed based on this. 5 lakh was used for a toilet in a depot. CMD Bijuprabhakar and other senior officials attended the function.

131 new superfasts for KSRTC Swift

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will flag off the new 131 superfast buses purchased for KSRTC Swift today at 11.30 am at Thycaud Police Ground. Minister Antony Raju will be the chairman and Minister KN Balagopal will receive the buses from the construction company. Minister V Sivankutty will give the keys to the buses and Minister GR Anil will give a gift to the bus manufacturers. The service of the buses will start from tomorrow.

The buses were purchased using Rs 50 crore allocated for fleet modernization in the state government's plan fund for the year 2022-23. The order was granted to Ashok Leyland, which quoted Rs 1.35 lakh less than other companies participating in the tender. The buses are manufactured by Bengaluru-based SM Kannappa Automobiles (Prakash) on Ashok Leyland chassis to meet safety standards. A bus costs Rs 38.17 lakh which includes 22.18 lakhs for the chassis and Rs.15.98 lakhs for the bodybuilding process. It will replace the aging 131 superfasts of KSRTC.
