NEW DELHI: Malayali and senior lawyer KV Viswanathan and Andhra Pradesh Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra have been appointed as Supreme Court judges. The Centre issued a notification accepting the appointments. Both will be sworn in today.
The announcement came hours after Arjun Ram Meghwal took over as the Union Law Minister, replacing Kiren Rijiju. Arjun Ram announced the appointment information through Twitter. Viswanathan may become the country's 58th Chief Justice in 2030. His service period is till 25 May 2031. Viswanathan hails from Kalpathi, Palakkad. Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra is a native of Chhattisgarh.
