THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Keltron says it cannot reveal the price of cameras installed on roads under the Safe Kerala scheme. The RTI response was that the price of the camera could not be disclosed as it involves trade secrets that would harm the company's competitive position.
Keltron CMD N Narayana Murthy had earlier stated in a press conference that the cost per camera is Rs 9.5 lakh. Keltron is also not ready to release the techno commercial proposal submitted to the government for the camera.
4-D Radar Based Automated Speed Violation Detection System (4 ), 4-D/ 3-D Radar Based Automated Mobile Speed Violation Detection System (4), Red Light Violation Detection System (18 ), Parking Violation System (25), and an AI Based Enforcement System (675) is installed. These devices only send images of the offending vehicles to the server. There is no video recording system.
677 cameras run on solar power. Images are processed automatically (edge processing). Traffic violations of not wearing seat belt, not wearing helmet, two-wheeler riding and mobile phone usage will be copied and processed and sent to the server in the central control room for storage.
