THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The K-FON program will be inaugurated by CM Pinarayi Vijayan on June 5. The event will be held in Shankara Narayanan memorial hall inside the assembly. In the first stage, 30,000 government institutions will get the benefit of K-FON internet. According to the program, 100 K-FON will be made available for every constituency in Kerala during its first stage. Thus 14,000 homes in Kerala will get internet on the debut run. The operating center for the K-FON is stationed inside Kochi Infopark.
20 lakh people who are generally in the financially backward class will get free internet services through the K-FON project. Others need to pay a feasible amount to acquire internet services. As of now, more than 18,000 government departments have internet services through K-FON. Arrangements have been made in 7000 homes for internet connections.
Meanwhile, the tariff rates will be declared at the time of inauguration. The speed of the K-FON internet will be within the range of 50 to 100 Mbps.
