PATHANAMTHITTA: “Children…. I need a word of promise from you. Everyone in this generation should attend school. There should be no compromise on that. Won't you give me that assurance?” asked district Collector Divya S Iyer during her final day at Manjathodu tribal village on Saturday. The collector, who was transferred from Pathanamthitta, was at the district-level inauguration of the International Disaster Mitigation Day in the tribal settlement.

In her speech, Divya said that Manjathodu village holds a special place in her heart and her tenure at this place was filled with many lively experiences. She also beseeched the parents of tribal children to make efforts to ensure education for their children. A school in Attathodu has been completed for this purpose. The minister will soon come for the inauguration. The collector embraced tribal children, received kisses and hugs from them and soon waved hands beckoning goodbye.
