Stampede in CUSAT tech fest: Expert doctors from Thrissur Medical College set off to Kochi; children beyond capacity entered auditorium

KOCHI: The total number of people injured in the stampede during the tech festival in CUSAT has reached 64. The accident was caused after children beyond the capacity of the college auditorium entered here. Meanwhile, a team of expert doctors from Thrissur Medical College has set off to Kochi to treat the injured children. Health Minister Veena George said that the doctors of surgery and orthopaedic department will reach the hospitals.

Meanwhile, the ministers held a meeting and expressed condolences for the deaths of four students in the incident that occurred during the tech fest at the CUSAT campus. An emergency meeting of ministers was held at 8:30 pm at Kozhikode Govt Guest House under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The celebratory programs and cultural programs related to the Nava Kerala Sadas on Sunday have been cancelled as a sign of mourning.
