Father, son drown to death in Periyar at Malayattoor

KOCHI: In a tragic incident, a man and his son drowned while bathing in the Periyar River in Malayattoor on Sunday. Ganga, a native of Malayattoor, and his son Dharmik (7 years old) died in the incident.

The incident took place at a pier near their house around 5 pm. Both of them have been bathing in the area for several years. On Sunday, the locals searched the river after family members raised concern after the duo failed to return after their usual bath.

A few minutes into the search, the body of Dharmik was found and later Ganga's from the depths. Locals rushed both of them to hospital but their life could not be saved. Dharmik was a second-standard student of St. Mary's School, Malayattoor.
