police

IDUKKI: A police officer who misbehaved with a women passenger on a bus was placed on suspension on Sunday night. Ajasmon, a civil police officer of Idukki Peruvanthanam station, was suspended by the district police chief. Earlier, Poonkunnam police arrested Ajas following his unscrupulous conduct inside a moving bus.

According to police, a young woman with her nine-month-old toddler was travelling from Kottayam to Mundakayam by bus. The police officer seated beside them tried groping her when she was breastfeeding the baby. Shattered by the happening, the woman deboarded from the bus at Poonkunnam and took another bus considering her safety. However, the police officer trailed her and took the same bus much to the concern of the woman.

At this point, the woman felt helpless and called her husband on the phone, letting him know about her harrowing experience. Soon after this, her husband along with relatives arrived at Kanjirappally bus station and dragged out Ajas from the bus. He was later handed over to the police.
