NEW DELHI: Air quality in Delhi has improved after rains and the government has eased the restrictions. The Delhi government has withdrawn restrictions on construction, demolition, and quarrying (Graded Response Action Plan-IV). The ban on BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel vehicles will continue. The average air quality index recorded in Delhi yesterday was 312 (395 on November 27).
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that although the air pollution in the capital region has reduced due to rain and wind, vigilance should be mainted in the coming days. Burning of straw has been completely stopped in neighbouring states like Punjab.
The minister also pointed out that smoke from vehicles is currently causing pollution in Delhi.
