Missing Indian youth found dead in London's Thames river; 'No mystery', say police

LONDON: An Indian youth who was in London pursuing higher studies was found dead in a river on Friday. Mitkumar Patel (23) was found dead in the River Thames. He was studying at Sheffield Hallam University in London and according to his close friends, he was not seen in college since November 17th.

Mitkumar's body was found by the Metropolitan Police in the river near London's Canary Wharf area. Police denied any mystery behind the death. Mitkumar arrived in London on September 19th and was planning a move to Sheffield on November 20 to pursue a degree from Sheffield Hallam University when suddenly he went missing. Mitkumar had already received a part-time job offer from Amazon which he was about to commit.

According to reports, the incident happened while Mitkumar was returning from college. His room key was also found at the location. Mitkumar hails from a village in India and is from a typical Indian middle-class family.

A GoFundMe online fundraiser was formed by friends and relatives of Mitkumar in London to help his family back home.
