BJP charges ahead in three states, Congress wins Telangana

bjp

NEW DELHI: Narendra Modi's magic was once again visible and the poll results in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh will be a pointer to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In Telangana, the Congress defeated the BRS in a consolation victory. The counting of votes in Mizoram will be held today.

The victory in the three states without declaring a chief ministerial candidate will energize the BJP to make a big leap in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress was defeated in all the three states where it directly clashed with the BJP. In Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the usual trend of change in administration continued.

Madhya Pradesh

BJP continued in power by making Congress a spectator. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has been in power since 2005 (except for a short break), was not announced as the chief ministerial candidate. The influence of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who brought down the Congress government in 2020 and came to the BJP camp, helped. Kamal Nath and his colleagues of the Congress, who tried to capitalize on the anti-government sentiment, were not a challenge.

Rajasthan

The BJP regained the power it lost in 2018 by ousting Congress' Ashok Gehlot government. The allegations of corruption against the Gehlot government, Dalit-women harassment, differences with Sachin Pilot and the anti-incumbency wave made BJP's victory easy.

Chhattisgarh

An unexpected victory for the BJP over the Congress, which was expecting a succession of power. The corruption allegations against the Bhupesh Bagel government, the anti-incumbency wave and the regaining of prestige in the tribal and backward areas also benefited the BJP.

Telangana

The Congress ended the BRS' two-term rule since the formation of the state in 2014. Favouritism, allegations of corruption and anti-incumbency wave prevented Chief Minister Chandrasekhara Rao's hat-trick ambition. It became the second state in South India to be ruled by the Congress.

Rahul on defense

Rahul Gandhi and the Congress are on the defensive after tasting defeat in the face-to-face fight with Modi. The party is disappointed that the caste census campaign did not work. This defeat is also setback for the 'INDIA' front. The infallibility of the Congress on the front will also be questioned.
