NEW DELHI: After the election results of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana states were announced, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has clarified that she will not participate in the opposition alliance meeting happening on Wednesday. Mamata's explanation is that she will not attend the 'INDIA' bloc meeting of the opposition alliance to be held on Wednesday because she has another pre-arranged program.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Mamata is deeply dissatisfied with the Congress after the election results. Mamata's response was that she was not aware of the meeting and has a seven-day event planned in North Bengal.
"Had I known about the meeting, I would not have made other plans and would have gone. I have programmes to attend in North Bengal. How do I change the plan if they call me now? I was not aware of the meeting,' said Mamata.
In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, where Congress suffered a heavy setback in the elections, they had not tried to reach an agreement with the parties of the INDIA coalition. Earlier, Mamata had responded that the failure in the elections was due to negligence in matters including seat sharing in the INDIA coalition. Mamata pointed out that it was Congress that lost in the election and not the people.
