THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thrissur Pooram crisis has finally been resolved. The government has clarified that the rent of the Pooram exhibition ground will remain at 42 lakhs, which is the last time's rate. The decision was taken in a meeting convened by the Chief Minister. It was agreed in the meeting that there is no need to increase the rent of the exhibition ground. This ended the crisis that lasted for more than a month. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan thanked Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu Devaswoms for the decision.
The position of the Cochin Devaswom Board demanding a ground rent of Rs 2 crore and twenty lakhs was rejected and the meeting decided that the previous amount should be paid this year as well. The discussion on the amount will continue after completion.
Ministers K Radhakrishnan, K Rajan and R Bindu, TN Prathapan MP, MLA P Balachandran, Additional Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan, Devaswom Special Secretary MG Rajamanickam, and representatives of Paramekkavu and Thiruvambadi Devaswoms and Cochin Devaswom Board participated in the meeting.
