Kerala Kaumudi impact: Action plan aims to boost voter enrollment

list-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth organizations, including DYFI, Youth Congress, Yuva Morcha, AIYF, and Youth League, are actively working to identify and enroll individuals who have turned 18 into the voter list. The initiative, prompted by Kerala Kaumudi's report indicating that 70 percent of new adults aren't on the voter list, aims to maximize electoral participation before the upcoming assembly elections.

To address the apathy towards political involvement, DYFI plans a comprehensive campaign with influential figures in arts, culture, celebrities, and seasoned political activists. The Youth Congress will shape its campaign at the Youth Conclave, while Yuva Morcha focuses on booth-level and campus initiatives ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

V.K. Sanoj, DYFI Secretary, emphasizes that the younger generation can transform the political landscape, countering the perception that politics is corrupt and prone to communalism, a sentiment echoed by Rahul Mankoottathil, Youth Congress State President.

CR Praful Krishnan stresses the need to counter the growing trend of political disinterest among youth highlighted by Kerala Kaumudi's data. The goal is to foster democratic participation and dispel the belief that abstaining from voting threatens democracy.
