Man breaks into house, ransacks gold as family leaves for church festival

IDUKKI: A house-break theft case was reported from Karimkunnam Nediyasala at a time when the family went to attend the annual church festival. 20 sovereigns of gold were stolen from the house of M T John, a college teacher. The incident took place on Saturday at 7 pm.

The culprit broke into the house when John along with his wife Philomena, and sister Alice went to attend the church ceremony.

John and family after returning from the festival saw the house in shambles, with the door left ajar. This led to suspicion of theft and the confirmation came when they got to know about the missing gold. A complaint was registered with the police.

A special squad has been formed under the leadership of Karimkunnam CI K R Mohan Das and the investigation has already started.
