NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has revealed that Aam Aadmi Party leaders had received money in the Jal Board corruption. The ED officials made the revelation after conducting raids at 12 locations associated with party leaders. The central agency also said that the AAP leaders used the money obtained through corruption for elections. Meanwhile, AAP has rejected ED's allegation.
According to ED, this is the second case where AAP leaders used corrupt money for elections. Earlier, ED had alleged that there was corruption in the liquor policy of the Delhi government and that the Aam Aadmi party used the money received from it for the Goa elections.
The central agency also stated that it seized some suspicious documents and digital evidence during the inspection conducted in Delhi, Varanasi and Chandigarh the other day. The ED also said that goods worth Rs 1.97 crore and foreign currency worth Rs 4 lakh were seized.
The ED officials also alleged that Jagdish Arora, chief engineer of the Delhi Jal Board, awarded the contract worth Rs 38 crore to a company that did not meet the technical eligibility criteria. ED had arrested Arora and contractor Anil Kumar Aggarwal on January 31.
Meanwhile, the AAP has issued a note stating that neither the party nor its leaders have any role in this case.
