Police 'lady lion' duped by fraudster husband; Finds out months later

LUCKNOW: Shrestha Thakur, a 2012 batch IPS officer famously known as 'lady lion' in Uttar Pradesh, fell victim to marriage fraud.

In 2018, Shrestha married Rohit Raj whom she met through a matrimonial site. Rohit claimed to be a 2008 batch IRS officer and Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi. However, Shrestha discovered the deception only after marriage.

After two years, Shrestha divorced Rohit upon learning that he was extorting money from others using her identity. Despite her divorce, Rohit continued his fraudulent activities prompting Shrestha to file a complaint with the Ghaziabad police.

Subsequently, the police arrested Rohit and investigations into the case are ongoing.
