Got married eight years ago after love affair; man who attacked wife in Kochi surrenders before police

KOCHI: More details have come out in connection with the incident where a man tried to kill his wife by slitting her throat in the middle of the road in Kochi. The incident took place on the Ernakulam Kalamassery road today morning. Neenu (26), who sustained a serious injury, is undergoing treatment at the hospital. According to eyewitnesses, it was a sudden attack by Neenu's husband Ashal. It was the locals who immediately rushed Neenu to the hospital.

It is reported that Ashal, who has been estranged for months, used to go to Neenu's house and fight with her. Neenu was going to her workplace in the morning when Ashal attacked her near the Akshaya Centre in Edappally Toll AKG Road. After attacking Neenu, Ashal fled the spot. Neenu sustained a deep injury on her neck. Following the incident, Ashal went to the Kalamassery police station and surrendered before the police.

Ashal and Neenu got married 8 years ago. It was a love marriage. They have a seven-year-old son. Neenu works in a hardware shop near her house. Ashal is currently unemployed. It is reported that he had attempted suicide two times. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
