THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the latest, the Motor Vehicle Department came up with a warning after discerning the increase in one specific traffic violation seen mostly during monsoon season. MVD warns that using an umbrella upright on a moving two-wheeler (whether the rider or the rear passenger) may create a hazard due to the parachute effect. The warning came through the MVD's Facebook page.

“Summer rains are here and to escape it, many are seen using umbrellas in two-wheelers. This may result in ghastly accidents due to the parachute effect “said MVD.

The post also reminded passengers about the intricacies involved in perfectly driving a two-wheeler and asked all riders to follow necessary cautions to avoid any hazards. MVD also highlighted the need to maintain a perfect body position while riding two-wheelers to enhance the riding experience.

“Before buying any two-wheelers, apart from taking note of the fuel capacity, efficiency, engine and riding experience, the more pertinent need is in configuring whether the vehicle is deemed fit for the rider’s body nature. It would be pragmatic only to purchase vehicles that one can ably control rather than owning a big machine that would anytime invite danger.” MVD noted.
