THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Human Rights Commission has ordered an inquiry into the complaint of the KSRTC bus driver who demanded legal action against those who insulted him after stopping the bus in the middle of the road and against the Cantonment SHO who did not file a case despite a complaint in this regard.
Acting Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission and Judicial Member K Baijunath ordered that the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner and KSRTC Managing Director should conduct an investigation and submit a report within a week. The case will be heard in a sitting on May 9 at the commission's office in Thiruvananthapuram.
The action was taken on the complaint filed by LH Yadu, a native of Nemom. The complaint is against Arya Rajendran, DN Sachin, Aravind and identifiable persons. According to the complaint, the KSRTC bus was halted on April 27, the driver was verbally abused and the passengers were asked to get off the bus. A complaint was lodged with the Cantonment SHO at 10:30 pm on April 27, but no case was registered or an investigation was conducted.
"On checking the cameras at the front of the bus, one can see what happened. But a case was registered against me without conducting any investigation," Yadu said.
There is a demand that the Cantonment SHO be removed from the charge of investigation and probe should be given to another agency.
